Business plan is a written document that shows you how a business shall be started & operated over a given period of time. It is a document which guides an entrepreneur on what to do, how to do it and when to do it.
A business plan has nine elements/components as follows:
a. Title page and table of content
This shows the name of the business, address of the business.
Table of contents enabling readers to quickly find the information.
b. Executive summary
Statement of purpose is a brief overview of the entire business plan, it may take one or two pages depending on the size of the business,this is written last because it is a summary of all other sections,this section explains the reason to write the business plan, it definitely highlights:
A brief description of the business
The key personnel in the business
Key strength & opportunities of the business
Funds required for the business and how those funds will be used.
What investors will get from the business if they invest in your business
c. General description of the business
This section helps the reader to get a general view and understanding of the nature of the business you are operating or planning to do. This sections summarise the following.
Name of the business
Location of the business
Legal form of the business
Goods/services to be supplied or produced.
Ceniqueness of the business from existing business
SWOT( Strength,Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat) analysis
